Development

This is the first step to go from idea to prototype sample

What is
Product Development

This is the first and most important aspect of the entire process, as every inefficiency identified can be easily addressed to prevent waste

We establish sizing standards for clothing at this stage and trouble shoot the potential results of material finishings such as garment dye or printing.

The main advantage of Sewing Incubator product development is that our team has access to every program, file, machine and resource available at our factory to come up with the most efficient way to produce each item

Our Product Development Process

We follow 6 steps to ensure that every prototype approved will be optimized to meet performance, quality and price targets

Strategy

Sourcing

We source materials from a proprietary network of trusted suppliers
Learn More

Technical Design

Flat sketch showing sample product construction and material placement
Learn More

CAD Sewing Pattern

Patterns are the “moulds” to cut each fabric piece required to sew a product
Learn More

Sample Development

Sample products are created to test performance and quality
Learn More

Costing

Production costs are determined after product is developed and sample is approved
Learn More

Costing

Fabric yields show the lowest fabric consumption for one product to calculate production cost
1
Bill of Materials shows all materials required to manufacture a product
2
Production Cost is based on approved sample and vary depending on order quantity, colors per style and how many sizes are being produced

Product Development Estimates

Every step of the development process represents a variable that will influence project estimates and for this reason we offer two types of estimates

Online Service Calculator

To get the most accurate estimates online, the following information about each style should be readily available
(Click for details)
Consultation
Assess the number of one on one consultation hours you’ll need through the entire development process
Sourcing
Refer to your Bill of Materials to assess how many materials will need to be sourced
CAD Pattern
Number of pattern pieces per style
CAD Grading
Number of pattern pieces per style X number of sizes
Flat Sketch Images
Decide who will be creating Technical Flats in Adobe Illustrator
Decide who has the expertise to create construction images in Adobe Illustrator to reflect engineered construction
Point of Measurement Images
Decide if you need POM flats in Adobe Illustrator
Sample Measurements
Decide if you require Sample Measurements
Graded Sample Measurements
Decide if you require sample measurements for all sizes after pattern has been graded and you’ve sampled each size
Sample Sewing
Choose the closest category to your reference sample for sample assembly time
Fabric Type
Select the closest option to calculate assembly time and cutting
Sample Cutting
Number of total pattern pieces to be cut per style and fabric
Fabric Yield
Number of total pattern pieces to be cut per style and fabric
Bill of Materials
Requires source information for every component

Product Development Estimate

Project Estimates are available up to 3 products and require that the following items are shipped to us in advance
(Click for details)
Reference Sample(s)
Labelled with style number for each style we'll be sampling for production estimate
Material Samples of the fabrics & trim
Materials you intend to use for sample development and manufacture
Completed Form
1st Product Development estimate request & shipment content forms
Paper patterns (optional)
We’ll need to evaluate patterns to make sure they meet our industrial standards to qualify for digitizing
